PactFi — Fintech Web Platform

In August 2021, Alexa Halcomb's PactFi began. For the business, we created the website pactfi.com. Understanding the needs of the client and the solutions they anticipated posed the biggest challenge for us. Creating the application, coordinating with a US remote team, and effectively delivering the features were additional challenges. Through communication with one another and video explanations, we were able to resolve the problems. We have also dealt with client requirements through a software management platform called JIRA. We enhanced the website with features like deal creation, working groups, deal facilities, allocating facilitated funds to working groups, sub-allocating facilitated funds, KYC features, dynamic forms, data rooms, etc. HTML was the programming language, software, and sort of technology that we utilised.

The challenge

The hardest part of this project was not writing the code. It was understanding what the client actually needed and the solutions they anticipated — a finance platform involves domain rules that are obvious to the people who work in it and invisible to everyone else. Coordinating with a remote team in the US and delivering features cleanly against that understanding were the other two challenges.

How we solved it

We closed the gap through deliberate communication rather than more documentation. Regular conversation with the client, backed by video explanations of what we had understood and built, let misunderstandings surface early instead of at delivery. Requirements were tracked through JIRA, so what had been agreed, what was in progress and what was still open stayed visible to both sides across time zones.

What we built

We created pactfi.com for the business and progressively extended it into a working finance platform. Features delivered include:

  • Deal creation and deal facilities
  • Working groups, with facilitated funds allocated to them
  • Sub-allocation of facilitated funds
  • KYC (know your customer) verification
  • Dynamic forms for varying deal structures
  • Data rooms for document exchange

An ongoing engagement

PactFi began in August 2021 and the engagement continues, with BitsWare handling web design and development for the platform.
